Sotto opposes transgender women using ladies’ restrooms

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has commented over the idea of transgender women using the ladies’ comfort room.

We learned that the Senate President has also reacted over the passage of SOGIE bill.

In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Dharel Placido), Sotto claimed that the issue regarding the transgender women’s rights has become a women’s rights issue.

“I now feel very strongly about it because it has turned from a transgender rights to a women’s rights,” Sotto said.

“This is now an issue on women’s rights because I feel that a woman’s body is a temple and to her, the toilet is sacred. It’s where she has a weakest point. Kaya kung ikaw meron kang sandata, hindi ka dapat du’n nagsi-CR,” he added.

The Senate President said that the SOGIE bill would be abused should it be passed into law.

"So dun pa lang kita mo, wala pa ito (SOGIE bill), ina-abuse na. That's another problem,” Sotto said.

However, opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros said that the SOGIE bill supports all the beliefs.

Born on August 24, 1948, Vicente “Tito” Castelo Sotto III is the 29th Senate President of the Philippines. He also served as the Vice Mayor of Quezon City from 1988 to 1992. He became popular as a co-host of variety show “Eat Bulaga!”
